Direct-Drive Progressing Cavity Pump

Direct-drive progressing cavity pump is a surface-driven system without gearbox or belt drive. The low-speed high-torque motor is directly connected to the polished rod. The VFD controls motor speed to directly drive the downhole pump. It is mainly used for heavy oil, high gas, sand and wax content wells.

Industry Challenges

01

Impure oil requires low-frequency high-torque starting

02

Synchronous motor may lose magnetism during load change or stall

03

High-temperature corrosive fluid accelerates stator rubber aging and pump jamming

04

Shaft energy release may cause runaway at shutdown
