INVT Helps Jiangxi Steel Enterprise Reduce Costs and Improve Operational Efficiency

The iron and steel industry is highly competitive. A major state-owned iron and steel joint-stock company in Jiangxi has been constrained by imported equipment, facing unresolved challenges such as high costs and unstable supply. Centering on cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the steelmaking automated operation zone, INVT has focused on the domestic substitution of equipment, successfully achieving cost savings of over 500,000 yuan, enhancing system stability, and ensuring efficient steelmaking production.

Dependence on imports has become a "roadblock" to development

As a leading local iron and steel enterprise, the efficient operation of steelmaking is crucial to the company's benefits. However, for a long time, its key equipment has relied on imports, resulting in high procurement costs, unstable supply chains, long delivery cycles and significant supply disruption risks.

The inverter controlling the motor speed of No. 1 continuous casting machine in the steelmaking automation operation zone has been in service for a long time and its spare parts have been discontinued, leaving it in a dilemma where "each use reduces the available stock"; spare parts for the soft reduction system of the continuous casting machine also depend on imports, featuring high costs and high supply risks, which severely affect the stable operation of equipment and production efficiency.

Localization substitution has embarked on a path of breakthrough.

Faced with difficulties, INVT joined hands with the Steelmaking Automation Operation Zone of the Digital Intelligence Department of a Jiangxi-based iron and steel enterprise to embark on the journey of domestic substitution.

In the inverter replacement project for motor speed control of No.1 continuous casting machine, INVT technical team selected domestic equipment after comparing several similar devices. On the one hand, the team thoroughly disassembled technical parameters, monitored operational performance, and digested and absorbed the technologies of imported equipment; on the other hand, it collaborated with manufacturers to formulate customized solutions based on key data of the continuous casting machine. After repeated debugging, the new inverter was put into use, reducing the cost of a single unit by more than 15,000 yuan compared with imported ones and improving system stability.

For the displacement sensors used in the soft reduction system of continuous casting machines, calculations show that the unit procurement cost of domestic products of the same model is 5,000 yuan lower than that of imported ones. The technical research team collaborated with manufacturers to customize firmware, conducted pilot installation and tracking monitoring, and optimized debugging through parameter adjustment and module installation. As a result, the domestic sensors are perfectly compatible with the original system, with performance equivalent to that of imported products, and the cost reduction effect continues to be evident.

The stability of equipment has been enhanced, providing reliable support for the efficient and continuous operation of steelmaking, reducing production interruptions and improving production efficiency.
