Abstract: With the acceleration of digital transformation (the global edge computing market size grew by 27% year-on-year as of Q3 2025), the increasing demand for artificial intelligence, supercomputing, and intelligent computing and so on, the density of data center has been significantly enhanced. The increase in power means an increase in energy consumption. It is urgent to find solutions to improve the energy efficiency of data centers. The data center solution with an enclosed cold aisle has gradually become the mainstream in this context. By closing the aisle to reduce the mixing of cold and hot airflows, using in-row air conditioner to cool the heat sources, the energy efficiency of the cooling system is significantly improved, reducing the operating costs of the data center. This article will present a modular glass wall enclosed containment data center solution, which is integrated with UP, Precision air conditioner, IT racks and DCIM monitoring system.

Project introduction

A project requirement from Philippines for a glass wall containment data center to provide information storage services for the office building where it is located. The client required external installation power distribution architecture with scalability and flexibility and precision air conditioner. And also demanded a special design for the containment. INVT adopted a glass wall to replace the traditional sheet metal wall design, single row design containment data center solution.

Difficulty, solution and advantages

1.  Difficulty: INVT’s standard solution is sheet metal wall, how to meet the glass wall requirement?

Solution: INVT repeatedly confirmed the customer's requirements, after an R&D internal assessment, a completely new design was ultimately adopted to meet the need. Different with previous designs, INVT was the first time innovatively install glass sliding doors on the front of the containment, while converting the sides of the containment into glass walls. Due to concerns about the risk of glass breaking during the shipping process, INVT negotiated with its partner, that INVT providing the easy-installation framework, the partner supplying and installing the 10mm glass. As a final result, this design appears much more grand and elegant, and has won the customer's approval of INVT products.

2. Difficulty: Unlike traditional designs, how should we arrange the display screens and access control systems without compromising the aesthetic appeal of the entire glass wall design?

Solution: INVT proposed to use a counter to hold the access control and 21.5 inch display screen was installed externally that will not compromise the aesthetic appeal of the glass wall, and also more easy-operation. Customer was very satisfied with this good idea, and it also meet their design concept for the data center room.  

3. Difficulty: Since the height of the customer’s room is insufficient, the fire extinguisher pipeline can’t be installed on the top of the data center. How to install the fire extinguisher pipeline?

Solution: INVT suggested to install the pipeline under the raised floor. When need to release the fire agent, discharge it into the enclosed cold aisle through the holes of the raised floor, and then enter the IT racks to fight against the fire, so the fire agent gas can dissipate through the rear of the IT racks and the skylight. This installation will not occupy the space of the top of data center, and leave the maintenance space for the customer.

Summary

INVT is the first time to adopt a glass wall design for the containment data center, combining precision air conditioner, power distribution system, monitoring system and so on. This design effectively attracts potential customers who are highly innovative and focus on product differentiation. It also breaks the original traditional layout of the market.
