1. Background

On the Atlantic coast of West Africa, Sierra Leone is home to a rising star in the global mining industry—the New Tonkolili Iron Ore Mine. With 11.9 billion tons of proven reserves, it stands as the world’s largest single magnetite iron ore deposit, covering an area of 408 square kilometers. The Phase II mining and beneficiation project is in full swing, aiming to establish a modern processing plant with an annual output of 12 million tons, injecting robust momentum into the global steel industry chain.

2. The New Tonkolili Iron Ore Project
This project is not only a model of deep Sino-Sierra Leonean collaboration in mining but also a key hub for international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Fatima Bio personally visited the site to witness this milestone. Leveraging its innovative technology and professional services, INVT supplied the GD5000 series medium-voltage frequency converters and variable-frequency power products for Phase II and Phase III (Stage 1) of the project, ensuring the stable operation of this colossal iron ore venture.

3. Medium-Voltage Frequency Conversion: A Pillar of Stability

"INVT’s products and services have been a pleasant surprise," remarked a representative from Leone Rock Metal Group. "Their high-voltage converters deliver outstanding performance and rapid deployment, greatly simplifying on-site construction. More importantly, INVT’s engineering team maintained close communication with us, tackling technical challenges together. Such professional and dedicated service makes us eager for future collaboration.

In this cross-border partnership, INVT’s cutting-edge medium-voltage frequency conversion technology erected a robust barrier for the project’s equipment. The deployed 10kV GD5000 series medium-voltage converters were largely integrated via prefabricated E-house modules, significantly enhancing system stability and reliability while reducing on-site complexity and costs. INVT's engineers worked side-by-side with the client, providing round-the-clock technical support to ensure the smooth operation of slurry pumps, clean water pumps, belt conveyors, and rod mills, laying a solid foundation for the project's success.

4.  A Milestone Achievement: Deepening Collaboration for a Shared Future

The successful completion and stable operation of Phase II and Phase III (Stage 1) mark not only a critical milestone for Leone Rock Metal Group’s African mining expansion but also a firm stride in INVT’s global journey. With broadening prospects, plans for Phase III (Stage 2) are already underway.

Looking ahead, INVT will uphold its core principle of mutual benefit, exploring new collaborative opportunities to infuse the mining industry with innovation and intelligence. By continuously refining its products and services, INVT remains committed to delivering tailored, high-efficiency solutions for clients worldwide.
