"Big Granary" India bans wheat exports

On May 13, India, the world's second largest wheat producer, imposed a temporary ban on wheat exports. India's foreign trade administration said that the decision to temporarily ban wheat exports was mainly based on two considerations: First, the domestic inflation was high and food prices increased significantly; Second, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has led to a sharp rise in international food prices, threatening the food security of India and surrounding countries.
